Police officer placed on leave after arrest

An Ark-La-Tex police officer has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested and charged with simple battery

Shreveport Police Officer LaBrain Marsden was placed on departmental leave by Chief of Police Willie Shaw, following the officer's arrest on a warrant procured by SPD detectives Friday afternoon.

Marsden, 25, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an outstanding warrant charging him with a single count of simple battery.

The rules and regulations of the Shreveport Fire and Police Municipal Civil Service Board mandate, “When an employee is charged with a felony he shall, and if a misdemeanor he may, be immediately relieved of duty and placed on "departmental leave" for up to one week at full pay and with continuing seniority.”
