Based upon information and evidence gathered during their in-depth inquiry, officials with the Natchitoches Police Department have determined the projectile that struck a wanted suspect during an incident involving officers assigned to the United States Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force back on Aug. 12 was not fired by the Shreveport Police officer serving with that unit.
The Shreveport Police officer involved was placed on paid administrative leave by Chief of Police Willie Shaw at the time of the incident but has since been returned to full duty.
Authorities are not releasing the name of the officer as per departmental policy relative to members who work in an undercover capacity.
