MD2U, a house-calls only medical service, has expanded into Shreveport. MD2U is designed for homebound patients and is now available in the states of Louisiana, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio.
MD2U founder Dr. Michael Benfield said, "In 2004, we recognized that many frail elderly and disabled homebound patients were not getting the quality medical care that they needed. That was the beginning of MD2U. We now provide everything from routine checkups to lab work, x-rays, EKGs and ultrasounds, and it's all provided in-home."
MD2U's unique program helps patients live independently longer, with fewer emergency room visits and hospitalizations. MD2U also helps delay the need for skilled nursing home placement. MD2U services are covered by Medicare and most insurance plans.
MD2U's Chief Operating Officer Karen Latta said, "MD2U is committed to providing quality in-home medical care in a supportive, team-oriented environment. We value intimate patient relationships centered on honesty, integrity, freedom of choice and human dignity."
