Quick eye of off-duty SPD officer leads to burglary arrest

A local man faces jail time following his alleged involvement in the burglary of an east Shreveport car dealership Saturday night.


Michael Harrison was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of simple burglary, after an off-duty SPD officer observed him lurking around cars in a dealership’s lot.


Just before midnight Saturday (August 2, 2014), the officer, who was working off-duty in the 500 block of west 70th Street, saw Harrison and moved in closer to see what Harrison was up to. Upon closer inspection, the officer observed Harrison siphoning gas from a vehicle parked on the lot.


The man, identified at 50-year-old Harrison, was detained and while an investigation was persued.
Following his detention, Harrison was transported to Shreveport Police headquarters where he was interviewed by Shreveport Police Property Crimes investigators. 


Information was gathered suggesting Harrison entered the fenced property via a hole made in the fence.  Following interviews, authorities arrested and charged Harrison with a single count of Simple burglary. 


Harrison was transported and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
