You can make sure you are always informed when there is an emergency by signing up for a special notification system.

CodeRED is a high-speed telephone and email communication service that allows for targeting of specific area or blanket notification of the area if there is an emergency.

The system is shared by the cities of Texarkana, Texas, Texarkana, Arkansas, Bowie and Miller Counties.

The system will notify residents of critical community alerts, such as: weather emergencies, evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices and missing child reports.

Public Information Officer for the City of Texarkana, Texas Lisa Thompson said, "Given the unpredictable weather common to our region in the spring, we think it's important to remind citizens how to stay informed."

Texas, said. "If you have moved, changed your phone number, or recently moved to the area, please update your information."

You can sign up for CodeRED by visiting the city's website at and clicking on the CodeRED information or by calling (903) 798-3181.
