A Caddo Parish grand jury today returned an indictment charging a Shreveport man with aggravated rape and molestation of a juvenile.

Donald Meshell, 48, was taken into custody April 17 by Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies after a warrant was issued in Caddo Parish. He was extradited to Caddo Detention Center the next day.

Investigators with Caddo’s Sex Crimes Unit were notified in early April that a 9- year-old female disclosed to her parents she had been molested.  Upon further investigation, detectives were able to identify the male suspect as Meshell.

Detectives were also able to link Meshell to another open investigation that allegedly occurred in 2002 involving a 7-year-old female victim.

Based on information gathered during the ongoing inquiry, detectives obtained the arrest warrant charging Meshell with two counts of molestation of juveniles.
