A local man has been charged with domestic abuse, after Shreveport police were called to his home Saturday.

Siyami Carswell, 21-year-old white male, was arrested for assaulting his wife and toddler.

Shreveport police responded to a domestic abuse call in the 100 block of Southfield Just after 1 p.m. Saturday (August 2, 2014). A female reported her husband abused her, and then turned on their 18-month-old child.

The toddler sustained multiple injuries to the thigh. The mother and child were treated at the scene by Shreveport Fire Department.

Detectives with the SPD’s juvenile division were notified of the incident and immediately responded to the scene. Preliminary information linked Carswell to the crime.

Carswell was charged with domestic abuse battery and cruelty to a juvenile. SPD patrol officers transported Carswell to Shreveport City Jail where he was booked into Shreveport City Jail on the above charges.
