UPDATE: Man killed after being struck by multiple vehicles in Shreveport

Shreveport Police are investigating an early morning south Shreveport crash that left one man dead.

On March 14, 2018 just before 7:00 am, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in the 800 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

Upon arrival, police and fire personnel located a male in the roadway suffering from fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Crash Investigations Unit responded to the scene and launched their investigation.

After conducting interviews and collecting evidence from the scene, investigators believe that the man entered the roadway outside of a crosswalk in the 800 block of Bert Kouns and was struck by a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by 29-year-old John McDearmont.

The force of the impact knocked the pedestrian down onto the roadway and he was subsequently struck twice more by a 2009 Kia Spectra driven by 23-year-old Christian Payne, and a Chevy Silverado driven by 60-year-old Barbara Taylor.

The impacts resulted in the man’s death. Investigators do not suspect that any of the drivers were impaired. All three voluntarily submitted to chemical testing and were released.
