Suspect sought in shots-fired incident in west Shreveport

Shreveport Police investigators are seeking a suspect in connection with a shots-fired incident in west Shreveport Saturday morning.


Just after 2:30 this morning (August 2, 2014), an SPD patrol officer initiated a traffic stop in the 6200 Block of Greenwood Road upon observing the vehicle's driver commit a traffic violation.


When the made contact with the vehicle's occupants, it was learned a male suspect reportedly fired at the vehicle numerous times as it drove through the area of Portland Avenue near Lakeshore Drive moments earlier.


Evidence recovered at the scene of the crime was consistent with statements provided by occupants of the vehicle. Officers detained the vehicle's driver along with three passengers; none of whom sustained injury.


Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Detectives were notified of the incident and immediately responded to the scene.


Preliminary information was received indicating the vehicle was fired at near the intersection of Portland Avenue and Lakeshore Drive by a known suspect armed with a handgun.


Authorities suspect an ongoing dispute between the man and an occupant inside the vehicle may have led up to the shooting.
