Shreveport Police detectives are investigating an early morning shooting which seriously injured a local man.

Jerandom Upshaw, 19, was transported to a local hospital by private auto this morning  after reportedly being shot while in the 3400 block of Palm Road.

Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to Willis Knighton North Hospital just after 4 this morning (July 27, 2014) in regard to a shooting victim.  Upon their arrival, officers learned Upshaw had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. He was stabilized and transported from WK North to University Health Medical Center where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives along with Crime Scene investigators were notified of the shooting and responded to the scene.

Information gathered during the preliminary investigation indicated Upshaw was present at a large house party held in the 3400 block of Alto Vista Avenue, when multiple gunshots rang out.

It is believed a dispute erupted at the party, which culminated into gunfire. It has not yet  been determined what role Upshaw, who was armed with handgun at the time, may have played in the shooting.

Authorities are working at this hour to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible for the shooting.  Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
