Teen indicted on 2nd degree murder in death of father of five

A Caddo Parish grand jury Friday returned a murder indictment on a Shreveport teenager


Derrick Thomas, 18, was indicted on a second-degree murder charge in the April death of 30-year-old Tyrone Youngblood, who was shot at the Villa Marquis Apartments in the 3700 block of Valley View Drive/


Thomas told investigators he and Youngblood got in a dispute the day before the shooting. Two years earlier, Youngblood, the father of five, survived after being shot multiple times, after getting into an argument. 


A second degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
