An early morning tornado damages more than a dozen homes in Bossier Parish.

The twister touched down shortly after 3 a.m. Monday near Buckshot Rd., Rat Terrier Lane and Hwy 537 near Plain Dealing.

Deputies estimate four to six homes received substantial damage, while another 10 homes have slight or moderate damage but no injuries were reported.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said, "It could have been a lot worse, but we are very fortunate it was property damage and no loss of life, especially after seeing what happened across the nation.  We will be here as long as it takes to help get their lives back in order."

Meanwhile, inmates work crews from the Bossier Correctional Facilities are clearing trees from houses and crews from the Bossier Parish Highway Department are clearing trees from the roadways.
