An elderly man is recovering after he was assaulted and robbed by two men at a local casino.

The robbery happened shortly after midnight Thursday at the Eldorado Casino.

Investigators say a 91-year-old WWII veteran had been beaten and robbed of his jackpot winnings.  The suspects allegedly followed him to a restroom, attacked him, stole some of his money and then fled on foot.

The victim was transported to University Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

After a brief search officers caught up with the suspects in the 200 block of Texas St.

John Perkins, 39, and Gary Smith, 60, were arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Perkins and Smith were both charged with a single count of Second degree robbery.
