Authorities have identified a Shreveport woman who died Sunday afternoon following a two car accident along a stretch of Interstate 20 in west Shreveport.

Lisa Blinks, 35, of Shreveport, was transported to University Hospital where she later died.

Just before 5 p.m. Sunday, Shreveport Police responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred on westbound Interstate 20 at the Pines Road exit.

The crash, involving a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice and a 2002 Kenworth tractor trailer, sent Blinks, the front seat passenger of the Caprice, to the hospital suffering serious injuries.  Only minor injuries were reported by the involved drivers and two additional passengers in the Caprice.

Shreveport Police crash investigators arrived on scene at the accident and were able to determine from witness statements, along with crash site evidence, that the driver of the Caprice, 37-year-old Carlos Daniels of Shreveport, lost control of the vehicle striking the interstate’s concrete retaining wall.

As Daniels made attempts to regain control of the car, it is believed he overcorrected, sending his vehicle into the path of the west bound tractor trailer being driven by 60-year-old Elton Munsinger of Carthage Texas.

Following the collision, Blinks was transported from the scene of the crash to University Health Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries.

While authorities do not suspect alcohol as a causative factor, mandatory toxicology tests were submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime lab for processing on behalf of both drivers.

No citations were issued in the accident, which remains under investigation.
