Shreveport police are seeking a Broadmoor man who bonded out of Shreveport City jail after he was charged with domestic abuse battery earlier this month, according to Cpl. Brett Scott, public information officer.

Michael Payne, 37, was arrested July 7, after an adult female reported he was her husband and had attacked her.

SPD patrol officers responded to a domestic trouble call that came in around 1:30 a.m. on July 7, 2014.  Upon their arrival to the residence in the 100 block of Albany Avenue, officers contacted the adult female victim who reported her husband, 37-year-old Michael Payne, attacked her during the course of an argument and pushed her to the ground before fleeing the area.

Payne returned to the home on Albany Avenue while patrolmen were still on scene, and was taken into custody without incident. During the course of their initial investigation, police seized a semi-automatic rifle from the suspect who was ultimately booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of domestic abuse battery.

Although Payne bonded out of jael, the investigation continued. Detectives with the police department’s Domestic Violence Unit were assigned the case and uncovered new information and evidence.

Based on the evidence gathered during their inquiry, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Payne with one count of second degree battery and one count of domestic abuse aggravated assault.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Michael Payne is urged to contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
