University Health system names permanent CEO

The University Health System Board of Directors announced Friday that Rodney "Rod" Huebbers, MBA will serve as Chief Executive Officer of University Health.

On May 1 Huebbers steps in to continue the transition from a state- to a privately-owned hospital that continues to serve as the teaching hospital for the LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine.

Stephen F. Skrivanos, PE, University Health Board Chairman said, "Rod has over 30 years of senior-level experience in health care management that will translate well as we develop innovative strategies and solutions for business development and growth."

Huebbers leaves his current post as President and Chief Operating Officer of Detroit Medical Center, where he oversees nine hospitals.

Huebbers has an MBA in Health Care Finance from Bryant College in Rhode Island and completed a Community Health Fellowship at the Health Care Forum Leadership Institute in San Diego. He also has a BS in Pharmacy from University of Rhode Island.
