UPDATE: Coroner's Office confirms woman killed after struck by fallen tree limb

A woman has died after being hit by a fallen tree limb in a Shreveport neighborhood.

Wednesday evening Connie Wilson Johnson, 64, was walking down the 1900 block of Weinstock St. when she was struck by the limb.

Johnson was transported to University Health where she later died from her injuries.

Chief Deputy Joe Johnson with the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office said Johnson died from blunt force trauma but the exact cause of death is unknown.

Powerful winds knocked down a tree limb in the Allendale neighborhood in the 1900 block of Weinstock Street.

Shreveport Police have the section closed off to motorists where the limb is.

Shreveport Fire Officials tell NBC 6 News that an elderly woman was walking underneath the limb when it fell.

The unidentified woman was struck by the limb, and taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
