The Volunteers of America of North Louisiana held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.

It's a special day at Volunteers of America of North Louisiana.

On Tuesday, they held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.

Around ten people were recognized for their community service.

NBC 6's Jade Cunningham, also presented four volunteers for being Gold Medal Givers.

Gold Medal Givers is a segment that honors those who give a helping a hand in our community.

Recipients of the award include: Chandler Williams, Bill Richard, and Draper and Kimberly Wright.

This luncheon has been held for more than 30 years.

Organizers say it's important they show their volunteers that their time and work isn't unnoticed.

"We couldn't do what we do without our volunteers," said Community Development Manager, Tricia Jowell. "They give so much to our organization and this is the least we could do to say thank you for all their hard work and sacrifice and giving up their time."

Here at KTAL News, we also like to honor volunteers in our community.

If you'd like to nominate someone as a Gold Medal Giver, please e-mail NBC 6's Jade Cunningham at jcunningham@ktalnews.tv.
