Local Zumba-lovers are getting down for a good cause, and burning tons of calories.
Three certified fitness instructors will lead participants in 2 hours Zumbathon session on Saturday. The event will raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
They've partnered with Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation department, and are holding the event at Bill Cockrell Community Center off Pines Rd.
"You always want to have people come out, and come to the community centers, come to parks. We want people to see what we're all about. We want to provide a lifetime of fun," said Christina Wynn, SPAR.
Even if you're just a beginner, the instructors say this Zumba-a-thon will be a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the fun, dance-based exercise.
"Things are pretty easy to follow. Everybody feels a little dorky the first time. That's what I tell people - just to expect to feel dorky, and you're going to have a good time. Just follow the moves, do the best you can and the more you see it, the more comfortable you get," said Lisa Arendell, Zumba by Lisa.
If you're interested in getting fit while giving back, the Zumba-ing gets started at 9:30 A.M. You can participate by donating a minimum of $10.
