Centenary close to hiring new basketball coach

The Centenary basketball program should have it's new leader within a week.

Athletic Director Bob Bunnell has narrowed the month and a half long search down to two candidates to replace Adam Walsh.

Walsh spent ten seasons in Shreveport, seven as the head coach before accepting the head coaching job at Shenandoah.

"It's tough to replace a coach like Adam" said Bunnell. "but we feel like we have it narrowed down to a couple of fine candidates. We're in the process of doing our due diligence and plan to make a decision on the new coach in the next week or so."

Centenary focused the search on guys who have extensive experience coaching on the NCAA Division III level.

"We're looking for somebody that had substantial Division-3 experience either as an assistant coach or a head coach and preferably people that have had experience working at private liberal arts colleges" said Bunnell. "It's a specific type of student athlete that we're looking for and hopefully the people we attract and are able to hire are folks that have experience recruiting that type of young man."
