RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas sophomore left-handed pitcher Timothy Buchanan has been named as the Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Buchanan, the 2013 GAC Freshman of the Year, earned his first-ever GAC weekly honor after working seven shutout innings and picking up the win against No. 4-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville in his only appearance this week. The win moved Buchanan to 2-0 on the year.

In the start, Buchanan struck out a career-high 12 batters (10 swinging, two looking). He also limited any traffic on the base paths as he scattered four hits (all singles) and walked two.

In his final inning against TAMK, Buchanan struck out the side to work around a leadoff single.
