Mudbugs are road warriors in March

The Shreveport Mudbugs are coming off a pretty successful weekend, earning three points with a win and an overtime loss to Odessa.

Now it's time to go on the road.

The Mudbugs play in Shreveport just three times in the entire month of March, and aren't back at home at all until the 17th.

Shreveport is currently in third place in the South Division, just one point behind Wichita Falls and one ahead of Corpus Christi.

With a race that tight for 2nd place, pretty much every game from here on out will have that playoff atmosphere.

"Every game has pretty much become a miniature playoff game. You got the guys at the bottom that are trying to get the playoff position. You got that 2-4 trying to get home ice in the playoffs and obviously Lone Star is doing their thing at the top" said defenseman Dominick Procopio. "Every game is you have to bring it now. There's no getting away with mistakes. It's almost got to be kind of a perfect brand of hockey."

"When things get tight like this you get a little nervous maybe but you love the nerves and you love the edge, you love how competitive each game is getting" said forward Kieran Durgan." It just makes for fun hockey to play and fun hockey to watch. The games coming up here are all going to be tight, all going to be fast and they all have playoff implications so it's going to be some good hockey."

The Mudbugs are back at it on the road Friday night when they travel to 5th place Odessa.

A pair of wins would give the Mudbugs a magic number of 5 to clinch a playoff berth.
