Smith Primed to Take Over at QB for Dawgs

March 18, 2017 - The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are a week into spring practices, and as the story has been for the past three season, they have to replace their quarterback.

Luckily for Coach Holtz, a prime candidate is already on the roster in J'Mar Smith.

Smith saw a good amount of playing time last season, including starting the season opener against Arkansas.

He brings a dynamic feel to the offense, but Coach Holtz says they're taking it one practice at a time.

Skip Holtz said, "I thought he did a really nice job. I thought he did a really nice job. For a sophomore that's played as little as he has. I thought he retained an awful lot. I thought he made some good decisions, and he threw the ball really accurately, but tomorrow will be a little bit more, and we'll just keep adding it on. At some point we're going to hit overload from a mental standpoint, but he's going to keep growing. I really like what he's doing right now. I think there's a lot of good things going on."

The Bulldogs will hold their annual spring game on April 8th.
