Area high school students take top honors in media contest

A group of seniors from Captain Shreve High School are being recognized for their exceptional journalism skills.

Last week members of the school's newspaper staff participated in the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association conference at LSU in Baton Rouge.

Windy Steele and Carson Mullins placed first and second, respectively, in the news writing competition.  Alexis Spano won second place in the newspaper competition for best inside spread design.

Captain Shreve's student newspaper, The Enterprise, won third place for best all-around newspaper for the 2012-2013 school year.

The students also took part in several workshops and toured the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication.
