BIKE & HELMET SAFETY

<br>SINCE TWO ARKLATEX CHILDREN HAVE BEEN HIT WHILE RIDING THEIR BICYCLES IN THE LAST WEEK, ITS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS TO REMEMBER THOSE HELMETS.

Caddo Parish Sheriffs Deputies with Safety Town say wearing helmets is the law for children under 12 while riding bicycles.  A proper helmet will fit snuggly, is made of styrofoam and hard plastic and will allow room to grow with padded inserts.  Deputies say helmets protect children from brain injuries and should be worn no matter where a child is riding.  While the law is hard to enforce, deputies say parents can actually be ticketed if children aren't wearing helmets.  For more information on bicycle safety contact Safety Town at 318-698-7233.
