Bossier City remembers 9-11

The annual Bossier City 9-11 Memorial ceremony reminds the community never to forget.

The annual Bossier City 9-11 Memorial ceremony reminds the community never to forget.

This year's speaker, Bossier Parish Tax Assessor Bobby Edminston, sent that message home by sharing his experience.  As he watched the coverage of the Twin Towers being hit, he was inspired to rejoin the National Guard.  In 2010, his unit was deployed to Iraq.

He hopes the younger generation remembers this day like his generation remembers Pearl Harbor.

"Kinda like me with Pearl Harbor.  I wasn't there, I didn't see it but I remember it.  Hope that they always remember sacrifices that people made on their behalf, and what it takes to keep a country free," said Edminston.

Two ladder trucks were set-up with a giant American flag attached.  The image provided a vivid backdrop for the ceremony this morning at city hall.
