Students from three Bossier Parish schools step up their efforts to make sure the elderly and needy families have a nice Christmas dinner.
Students from three Bossier Parish schools step up their efforts to make sure the elderly and needy families have a nice Christmas dinner.

Friday morning the Bossier Sheriff's Office picked up the last of the food barrels.

This year students and faculty at T.L. Rodes Elementary, Curtis Elementary and Elm Grove Elementary collected more than 18,000 canned goods.

Posse members and students delivered 500 special Christmas food boxes to area residents.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said, "Providing these meals to our elderly and residents in need would not be possible without the support of Bossier Parish schools.  Their canned food drives were amazing this year, and these children will be blessed because of their generosity."
