Boys and Girls Club to hold block party

The Boys and Girls Club is getting ready to open its doors.

The Boys and Girls Club of Texarkana is getting ready to open its doors, but not before a celebration is held.

This Saturday, the Salvation Army is holding a block party.

It'll be held at the new Boys and Girls Club on Milam Street.

Participants can enjoy food, games, and other activities.

The event is meant to teach the community about what the afterschool program offers.

"I hope they'll get to see exactly what the Salvation Army does and that's serve and meet the needs of the people in the community," said Dalisa White. "This program, which is a program of the Salvation Army, will enhance the lives of the children."

The block party is free and open to the public.

Children up to 14 years of age are encouraged to attend.

The opening date for the Boys and Girls Club is December 2nd.
