The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office is offering training to those of you who want to protect yourself against criminals.

The program is designed to boost your confidence and give you basic skills to fight off bad guys.

The class will take place on between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Jan. 18 for residents of Bossier Parish at the Viking Drive Substation on 2510 Viking Dr.

The training is limited to 40 applicants.  Daughters and female siblings 14 years and older may enroll as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said, "Teaching self-defense helps heighten ladies' situational awareness and encourages them to become more alert to their surroundings to avoid becoming victims of crime," said.

Although there is no cost for the class the Bossier Sheriff's Office would like your support for their food bank program Operation Blessing by donating canned goods.

You can sign up by calling the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at (318) 965-3525.
