The Caddo Parish Commission wanted voters to approve a $23.39 million bond proposal. But, in a very close race, it failed by 59 votes.
The funds would have been used to upgrade parish parks, roads and buildings.
Commissioner Michael Williams said it was critical the parish received the funding.
"Hopefully we can go back in years to come and put it back on the ballot," Commissioner Williams. "If you don’t succeed at first, try again. We’ll work with the Parish administration to make sure services aren’t cut off. “
5,113 voters disapproved the bond proposal. Voter turnout was very low, with unofficial turnout numbers at 6.1 percent.
