Calumet dedicates tank to Susan G. Komen

Plant Manager puts breast cancer painting on tank

The local Susan G. Komen affiliate gets a big gift from Calumet.

A mural is now painted on one of the tanks at Calumet in Cotton Valley. It’s
dedicated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and breast cancer awareness.

Plant Manager Charles Cost came up with the idea, after losing his mother to breast cancer
and helping his wife survive the painful disease.

"It’s a vicious disease and I wanted people to be aware that it's all about early detection so
that's one of the reasons,” said Charles Cost. “It’s also in memory of all the
people including my wife that had breast cancer."

The mural is lit up at night, so Webster Parish residents can see it as they drive down Highway 371.

Calumet also made a donation to the Foundation's Race for the Cure.

The race is on Nov.2, at Mall St. Vincent.
