With snow, wind and low temperatures across the ArkLaTex, you need to take a few precautions over the next two days.

If you have to be outside, bundle up. Special attention needs to be paid to your hands and feet.

But if you can help it, doctors say stay inside.

Going from a warm environment to a cold environment can make you sick.

"If the temperature is constantly fluctuating back and forth, then the body is not prepared for the either the cold or the heat,” says George Henderson, Medical Director at David Raines Community Health Center. “So, it's not able to adapt that quick, so sure quick changes in temperature can make one sick."

Plus, you can't forget to make sure your pipes are taken care of.

"Cut the sprinkler system off and drain it,” says Trey Giglio, Master Plumber at Universal Plumbing. “A lot of busted pipes occur on the sprinkler system. Make sure you don't have any pipes that are exposed to the weather, that are not insulated, and leave that faucet dripping."

And when you're out on the road, watch for water freezing on bridges and overpasses.
