It took firefighters over an hour to contain a 2-alarm fire at the Country Corner Apartments in Shreveport.

The blaze broke out shortly before 8:30 a.m. Thursday at a 2-story complex in the 400 block of Stoner Ave. near Gilbert.

40 firefighters along with 15 fire units including ladder trucks battled the flames and heavy smoke before it was brought under control.

According to Shreveport Fire Chief Fred Sanders one juvenile was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

Apartment management has relocated all but one of the families and the Red Cross is assisting with the matter.

Investigators believe the fire started after a woman tried to dry clothes by using the heat from her stove.
