The Alpha Race is a national event that was founded by veterans to help veterans and their families. And next month the race is coming to Barksdale Air Force Base.

Alpha Race's Chief of Operations, Major Michael Green, says he knew Barksdale would be perfect for the race because of all the interesting terrain.

He and Paul Williamson, who's in charge of Barksdale's outdoor recreation department, have been planning and creating obstacles for the race for more than a year.

They believe there's something for any fitness enthusiast to enjoy in the 3.9 mile race including 14 obstacles like hills, walls and a 150-foot water slide.

The Alpha Race will raise money for morale boosting programs on Barksdale.

It kicks off July 12th and 13th.
