Beautillion: a rite of passage for local young men

The Bossier City Alumni of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated holds its annual Beautillion.

Six young men are honored Saturday for graduating from the Kappa League. The Beautillion was sponsored by the Bossier City Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.

While enrolled in the Kappa League, the high school seniors attended a variety of classes and went on a college.

"They took us on college trips. They took us into the community and we helped people out- the homeless and the poor-from time to time,” said Roland Dunn, of Evangel Christian Academy.

“We just did all kinds of things to help us grow up and mature instead of being out on the streets and doing things that will cause us to get in trouble and have jail time. They took us in and provided money for us. They just done so much for us.”

The graduates all received scholarships for participating in the program. The Kappa League accepts young men ages 14 to 18. Its next intake is in January.
