You will soon be able to use the rifle range in Bossier Parish.

Starting Sept. 26 the Bossier Sheriff's Office rifle range will be open to you for three weekends.

The range, located at 2955 Old Plain Dealing Rd. in Plain Dealing, will be open on Friday and Saturday on Sept. 26-27, Oct. 3-4 and Oct. 17-18 with hours of operation from 9 a.m. until noon and 1 until 4 p.m.  The range will not be open for public use on Oct. 10-11.

The range features 12 shooting lanes with targets at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards.  Basic targets will be available at the range, but shooters are welcome to bring their own paper targets.

You will need to bring your own weapons and ammunition, since none will be available at the range.  You'll also need to bring your own hearing and eye protection, but these will be available at the range, if needed.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said, "I am pleased to offer this service to our residents so they can sight in their rifles at our range in a safe environment, especially as we approach hunting season."

You can register by calling the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at (318) 965-3525.
