In the Martin Luther King community both Newton Smith and Linear will close at the end of the school year. Linear will be utilized as a maintenance facility.

Lakeshore Elementary School will be converted into a middle school. Fair Park and Woodlawn High Schools will return to 9th through 12th grade campuses and will no longer house 7th and 8th graders.

Dr Lamar Goree says,"We think this is an important part of how we address the needs within the inner city schools."

Linear could reopen as a school depending on a decision from the state.

Parents should have started receiving letters in the mail with new school assignments. If not they need to contact the attendance office at 603-6307.
