A local man sits in the Shreveport City Jail this morning, less than 12 hours after he was caught on camera unloading the safe in the business of a former employer.

Patrick Emerson, 32, was identified, found at home, and arrested early today.

Just after midnight today (August 3, 2014), Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 7200 block of Youree Drive relative to a commercial alarm.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed signs indicating a burglary of the business had occurred. Officers contacted management of the business and advised of the situation.

In addition SPD property crimes investigators were notified and immediately responded to the scene.

Surveillance video from the store, captured one man entering the business and taking an undisclosed amount of money from the safe.  Upon processing evidence recovered at the scene, detectives were able to link former store employee Emerson to the crime.

SPD detectives, along with patrol officers, located Emerson at his residence in the 2800 block of Corbitt Street.

He was taken into police custody without incident and transported to Shreveport Police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives.

Following subsequent interviews, Patrick Emerson was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Simple burglary.
