SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team ran its win streak to three games with a 12-6 victory at Shehee Stadium over LeTourneau on Tuesday evening. The Gents (6-10) logged a season-high 14 hits in the win.
Nic Parrott paced the Maroon and White at the dish collecting four hits in four at-bats missing the cycle by a double on the afternoon. Parrott tied for the team lead in RBI with Dakota Brown with four each.
Christian Sebastien, Chris Jones and Brown each garnered multiple hit efforts. Sebastien and Jones each logged three hits with Brown going 2-for-2 including the second homerun of the contest for the Gents. Jones also added a pair of RBI in the effort.
Taylor Henry pitched 4.1 innings to gain the victory on the bump for the Maroon and White. Henry fanned seven batters in the outing. Centenary sent a total of five pitchers to the hill in the contest with Holden Novak drawing the starter and Devin Bench, Trey Lavespere and Grant Debevec all combining in the effort.
LETU (13-2) jumped on the board early, but the Gents answered back quickly scoring four runs in the second, five in the third and three in the fourth inning. The Maroon and White rattled off 12 hits during the scoring spree.
The Jackets nipped into the lead in the fifth inning with a pair of runs to cut the deficit to 12-4 and plated another two runs in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to tilt the decision in their favor.
Christian Baker suffered his first loss of the season tossing an inning and allowing three runs on three hits with a walk.
Centenary returns to action on March 15 as the Gents open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action at the University of Dallas. The three-game series opens with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at Noon and concludes on Saturday with a slated start of 1 p.m.
