Charm clinic prepares local girls for future job market

Back by popular demand, a local sorority chapter hosts a charm clinic to prepare today's students for the future job market.

Back by popular demand, a local sorority chapter hosts a charm clinic to prepare today's students for the future job market.
Girls ages 12 to 16 are learning life skills like public speaking, etiquette, health education, and financial planning tips - all for free.
The clinic is being put on by a Delta Lambda Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Charm clinic chairperson Erica Thomas says, "There's a study that shows 15% of keeping a job is technical skills, and 85% is social skills, and you'll find in they schools today, they're not doing a lot of concentration on social skills. So we're teaching these social skills to these children for them to become polished young adults."
The clinic runs today through Thursday from 12:00 noon to 3:15 p.m. at the Lake Life Center on Pierre Ave. in Shreveport.
There are 100 spots to fill, and you can still register tomorrow.
Again, it's free.
