Tragedy is still settling in after a three year-old girl is run over and killed in Minden.
Minden Police and emergency crews were called to the corner of Morrow Street" and Bayou Avenue, just before noon yesterday.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says three year-old Corieyona Ware was at a family friend's home, and when the homeowner's boyfriend left for work he just didn't see her.
According to Chief Cropper, it seems as though Corieyona wandered away from her babysitter inside the home, and walked to the driveway.
Corieyona was standing in front of the grill of the truck, where she was too short to be seen.
When the homeowner's drove down the driveway, he hit Corieyona.
The babysitter and a neighbor both yelled.
"I think at that point in time, the girl that was babysitting, she had actually gotten back to the carport, and when she didn't see the child, that's when she turned and she also saw the child in front of the vehicle,” says Chief Cropper. “And of course at that point he had already struck the child."
Chief Cropper says the driver is very shaken up behind what happened, and at this point he’s not facing any charges.
Funeral arrangements for Corieyona have not yet been finalized.
