The Clear Horizons Apartment complex held a Health Fair Friday.
Residents got their blood pressure and sugar levels checked. They also picked up pamphlets about SportTran and the Caddo Council on Aging. Neighbors said the health fair was much needed in the area.
"Really helpful. Really helpful,” said Tonesha Thomas. “I have to pay a co-pay when I go to the hospital. Sometimes you can't afford the co-pay. A lot of us have a lot of health issues that we don't really know about until it's too late. "
Shreveport firefighters were also on hand to show the children how to evacuate their apartments if there's a fire. They also got to have some fun in the sun in the bounce houses, and a free lunch.
Organizers said they're pleased with the turnout, and plan to have the health fair twice a year.
