GUILTY: Brian Horn convicted of first degree murder

On Wednesday the jury found Brian Horn guility of First Degree Murder in the death of 12-year-old Justin Bloxom.
On Wednesday the jury found Brian Horn guilty of First Degree Murder in the death of 12-year-old Justin Bloxom.

The sentencing phase will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. 

DeSoto Parish District Attorney Richard Johnson says he expects the penalty phase to last up to three days.  The prosecution's case could take a day to a day and a half.

The jury choices are the death penalty or life in prison without parole.


Update:

The judge gave the jury their instructions at 1:54 this afternoon and at 2:15 the jury started deliberations in  Brian Horn's First Degree Murder trial.

The jury's choices are First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Manslaughter or Not Guilty.

Wednesday afternoon Dhu Thompson gave closing arguments for the prosecution.

Lead attorney Daryl Gold gave closing arguments for the defense and prosecutor Ron Stamps gave the rebuttal.

After lunch Judge Robert Burgess will give the jury their instructions and they will begin deliberating Brian Horn's fate.

The jury's choices are First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Manslaughter or Not Guilty.




Wednesday morning the lead defense attorney Daryl Gold  told the court that they decided not to call any witnesses.

Judge Robert Burgess said closing arguments would begin later today.  Right now Judge Burgess is meeting with the attorneys concerning what he will charge the jury before they go into deliberations.

Dhu Thompson will do closing arguments for the prosecution.
