Now is your chance to have all of those confidential documents taking up space destroyed for free!
You can watch as your documents are shredded on the spot!
Join Harrah’s Louisiana Downs, NBC 6 News, Cumulus Broadcasting and many local area businesses for the Code Green “Shred It” Event.
On Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 3pm-7pm in the Harrah’s Louisiana Downs Parking Lot, individuals can drive through the designated area and have up to five boxes of documents shredded on the spot free of charge.
The Shred It truck and staff will be on-site during the event to explain how using “Shred-it” is one of the safest methods of destruction available.
Bossier Investigators will also be on hand to answer any questions citizens might have about shredding documents, and Identity Theft Protection.
While shredding documents protects you, it also helps the environment.
Shred-it has been known to serve as many as 2,000 community members at one community shredding event, with more than 70 tons of paper recycled into products such as paper towels, toilet paper and paper cups.
Every ton of paper recycled saves 17 trees that'll absorb 250 pounds of carbon dioxide each year, 380 gallons of oil, 4,000 kilowatts of energy, three cubic yards of landfill space, and 7,000 gallons of water.
A number of area businesses will also be on hand to collect other items for recycling.
Pratt Industries will collect paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and steel cans.
Goodwill Industries will be collecting furniture, appliances, small electrics and clothes that can be re-used.
Gateway Tire will be collecting used tires and batteries, while Tri-State Battery will be collecting all types of batteries.
