Texarkana soon will have a famous new resident - former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin will be spending the next few years there, as he has been assigned to the minimum serurity camp next to FCI (Federal Correctional Institution) Texarkana, according to NBC affiliate WDSU in New Orleans.

Nagin has been told to show up at the Texarkana facility at noon on Sept. 8, 2014.

On July 9, U.S. District Court Judge Ginger Berrigan sentenced Nagin to 10 years in custody following his conviction earlier this year on 20 counts of bribery and corruption. A recommendation was presented, at that time, suggesting Nagin serve his sentence at the Bureau of Prisons facility in Oakdale, La.

Instead, Nagin will report to the Texarkana facility which the Bureau describes as a "low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp."

FCI Texarkana currently houses former Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC concert producer Lou Pearlman and was the prison where former LSU Tigers football standout and Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon served 30 months on a counterfeiting conviction.

The camp that is associated with the complex typically houses about 300 inmates. The larger prison facility itself holds more than 1,100 additional inmates.
