NSU women dominate SFA to win Southland tournament title and claim automatic bid to women's NCAA tournament
KATY, TX - A year after their male counterparts won the Southland Conference tournament championship, the ladies do the same. The Northwestern St. women dominated Stephen F. Austin 62-44, claiming the Southland Conference tournament title and punching an automatic bid into the 2014 NCAA tournament.

NSU was led by Ruston native Chelsea Rogers 16 points. Trudy Armstead added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Janelle Perez added four assists.

The Demons were a long-shot to win the tournament after being slated the No. 4 seed to start the postseason bracket, but NSU knocked off Nicholls St. in the quarterfinals, and slipped past Lamar on a last-second shot in the semifinals.

Northwestern St. awaits their NCAA tournament seeding on Monday during the women's selection show.
