LSU Health has new gear to educate high schoolers on the effects of alcohol.
The school demonstrated its new Fatal Vision Goggles.
They simulate vision at different levels of intoxication.
During presentations, students put on the goggles, walk a line and take a field sobriety test.
"Just about every 50 seconds there's somebody in America that's permanently crippled, because of a drunk driver," says John T. Owings, MD, FACS, Trauma Medical Director.
LSU Health officials say last year, 47% of its trauma patients had alcohol in their system.
