A ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Wednesday to commemorate their move to a completely remodeled 77,000 square foot building.

The facility had been under construction since October 2010.

As many as 600 employees will work out of the building, which cost around $25 million to renovate and equip with state-of-the-art technology.

"It's great to have good airplanes, even as old as they are, they are continuously updating to allow the combatant commanders to bring effects on the battle field. But those effects are nothing without the ability to command and control them," said Maj. Gen. Scott Vander Hamm, Commander of Eighth Air Force. "And that command and control apparatus is our Air Operation Center."

The Eighth Air Force mans America's B-52's and B-2 bombers. They have operated out of Barksdale for 39 years.
