Family Dollar armed robbery suspects behind bars

Two of three suspects in a Saturday armed robbery attempt were taken into custody in short order by DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s deputies, and a third turned himself into authorities this afternoon.
Two of three suspects in a Saturday armed robbery attempt were taken into custody in short order by DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s deputies, and a third turned himself into authorities this afternoon.

 

Bobby Smart, 19, and a juvenile were taken into custody after a high speed car chase with deputies ended badly for them. A third suspect, Jamarcus Marshall, 23, was able to elude authorites, but after a warrant was sworn out for his arrest, he turned himself in to authorities

 

Just after 10 p.m. Saturday, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted armed robbery of the Family Dollar located in the 1000 block of Highway 171 in Stonewall, LA. 

 

Based on a description by the complainant, deputies responding to the scene were able to intercept a vehicle matching the description heading west on Highway 5. The vehicle failed to stop and a high speed pursuit ensued. 

 

The vehicle subsequently lost control and crashed in the area of Highway 509 and Buffalo Road. 

 

Three black male subjects exited the vehicle. and a foot pursuit was initiated.  Deputies were able to apprehend Smart, of Mansfield, immediately.  A K-9 unit was able to track and apprehend another suspect – a juvenile - a short distance away. 

 

Marshall, the third suspect, was not apprehended at the scene, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest.  

 

Deputies and investigators were able to recover items that linked the suspects to the attempted armed robbery at the Family Dollar location.
