Two people are behind bars after their burglary attempt was foiled.

Shreveport Police tell NBC 6 News, that just after 2am on Wednesday, officers were called to the 200 block of West 84th Street.

A concerned citizen had called police reporting a group of men that were seen to be actively burglarizing an 18-wheeler parked on a private lot there.

When police arrived, both the alleged suspects fled from the parking lot on foot, in attempts to elude officers.

Authorities quickly caught 49-year-old, Gerald Davenport, and took him into custody without incident.

But, it would take the help of a trained police K-9 to help capture the second suspect, 46-year-old, Eric Blackstone.

Blackstone was taken into custody in a nearby wooded area behind the business.

Blackstone was also treated on-scene by Shreveport Fire Department medics for injury sustained during his attempts to flee.

Property stolen during the burglary, consisted of general merchandise belonging to a local retailer housed on the parking lot.

The merchandise was found and returned to the owner.

Shreveport Police Property Crimes detectives were called to the scene help in the investigation.

Authorities gathered information and evidence linking both men to the crime.

Gerald Davenport, of the 500 block of West 82nd Street and Eric Blackstone of the 8700 block of St. Vincent Avenue, were both charged with a single count of Burglary and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
